Who am I?
The short answer…My name is Bri and I am an artist and activist.
I know I am expected to fill this section with things like gallery shows, awards, publications, events, etc…..but the truth is, I do not spend a lot of time entering contests or trying to get my work into shows. I would rather spend my time working on projects that raise awareness about what non-human animals are going through every single day. My favorite art show was one dedicated to animals in artivism put on by Kind Heart Coalition because it was a diverse group of activists all fighting for the same cause with the same message:
Speciesism needs to be dismantled because non-human animals have a right to live their life free from harm by human hands.
The intention behind my art is to directly challenge what we have been taught to believe is right. We live in a world where the majority believes we (as humans) have dominion over every other species that exists. We save some, share our home with others, protect few, and eat many. Most of us are taught to see non-human animals as “things” we can benefit from and not as the sentient individuals that they truly are. I hope that through my art people will see non-human animals for WHO they are and honestly ask themselves “Do my actions align with my morals?” and if not, “what am I going to change so they do?”.
